| Description |
English: Stanmer House Built by the Pelham family in 1724 on the site of the original manor which had once been held by the church until sold off by the crown in 1545. The Pelhams remained lords of the manor until 1947 when Brighton Corporation took over the running of the estate, part of which was given over to the new University of Sussex in 1961. The parish church is directly opposite the manor. |
