Standard Flying Eight. In the 1940s virtually all the cars in England seem to have been black, though this one evidently benefitted from a more recent respray.

Quarter of a century after I took this picture, the quarter in which I took it was much changed following completion of the Kite development project aka The Grafton Shopping Center. The car, however, was still registered in the UK in 2010. The UK tax database showed the following details in May 2010:
