Description
English: Stamp from Souvenir Sheet  · Armenian poet, musician, philosopher and theologian Saint Grigor Narekatsi (Saint Gregory of Narek, manuscript from “Book of Lamentations” illustrated by Grigor Mlichetsi in 1173) and the background of the souvenir sheet presents Narekavank Monastery (X century, Western Armenia), where St. Gregor Narekatsi got his education, served as a monk. Afterwards, he became the “vardapet” (“vardapet” - doctor of the church, teacher) and lived till the end of his life. Saint Grigor Narekatsi was buried in the chapel, which was built in his memory on the territory of the Narekavank Monastery.
