Stamp of the United Arab Emirates - Emirate Ras-al-Khaima; 1969; commemorative stamp (not airmail, the number at the French catalogue is misleading) of the series "200th anniversary of birth of Napoleon I Bonaparte" (from 15 August 1769 until 5 August 1821 date QS:P,+1500-00-00T00:00:00Z/6,P580,+1769-08-15T00:00:00Z/11,P582,+1821-08-05T00:00:00Z/11 ).; Depicted as stamp motive is a detail of the painting "Bonaparte as First Consul to horseback awarding a Sabre of Honor" by (Baron) Antoine Jean Gros (1773-1835).; Meant is the situation after the Battle of Marengo which gave the French in June 1800 the command over the Po valley as far as the river Adige (German: "Etsch").; This battle was an important component at the forcing of Austria to sign the "Treaty of Lunéville" in February 1801 whereby were recognized the rights of the French in (then) Austrian territories.; This painting was created in 1803 by "Baron Antoine Jean Gros" (in the status of a Prince) in the style of the French "Late Classicism" or "Neo-classicism" (Romanticism with Neoclassicistic tendencies) and is contemporary located in the "Musée National des Chateaux de Malmaison et Bois-Preau" in Rueil-Malmaison (near Nice).; This castle was bought in 1799 as residence for the Empress Josephine (Joséphine de Beauharnais (1763-1814) which also was the owner of the Tuileries in Paris) and which (the Chateau Malmaison) was also the headquarter of the French governemt in 1800-1802 as well as the residence of Napoleon during his "100 Days" in 1815.; The "Rose-garden with Lilies" ("Rosarium") of this chateau was created under the governemt of Empress Josephine by the Belgian Pierre-Joseph Redouté (1759-1840) and was very famous because of his flowers.; Depicted is a grey horse of the species "Equus ferus caballus" (German: "Schimmel").; stamp postmarked by CTO
