Description

Gornji Grad is one of the districts of Zagreb, Croatia; Gornji Grad translates as Upper Town. It is bordered by four other districts: Donji Grad in the south, Črnomerec in the west, Gornja Dubrava in the east and Podsljeme in the north.

The district is located in the central part of the city and, according to the 2001 census, it has 36,384 inhabitants spread over 10.12 km2 (3.91 sq mi), making it the sixth most densely inhabited Zagreb city district. It includes most of the oldest parts of Zagreb and many of the main sights in Zagreb. The Croatian Parliament and the city's Cathedral are both located in Gornji grad, as is the popular pedestrian café street Tkalčićeva [Wikipedia.org]
