English: Sgt. Curtis Boessen, center, a Saint Elizabeth, Missouri, native and a horizontal construction engineer, for 615th Engineer Company, 4th Engineer Battalion, 36th Engineer Brigade, out of Fort Carson, Colorado, conducts a safety and maintenance check on the chains and tires of military vehicles during a routine stop near the Roberts International Airport, Monrovia, Liberia, Jan. 21, 2015, in support of Operation United Assistance, Joint Forces Command – United Assistance. The Soldiers convoyed military equipment to the staging area, known as the Defense Distribution Expeditionary Yard, in Buchanan. The vehicles and containers are scheduled to be moved to the wash rack before they’re loaded on a ship. This is just the beginning of the equipment’s journey as it will eventually be loaded onto a ship headed to the U.S. Operation United Assistance is a Department of Defense operation in Liberia to provide logistics, training and engineering support to U.S. Agency for International Development-led efforts to contain the Ebola virus outbreak in western Africa.
