| Description |
English: Stagecoach in Hastings bus 20654 (reg. R654 HCD), a 1998 Volvo B10M with Plaxton Paladin bodywork, pictured at Showbus 2007. It's been painted in a special livery - the original dark green and cream of Maidstone & District Motor Services, complete with fleetnames, plus the roofline message 1905 Celebrating 100 Years of Public Transport in Hastings 2005. 1905 marks the date of the first tram service in the town. M&D was formed in 1911 and had expanded to reach Hastings by 1914. In 1980 a separate 'Hastings & District' identity was adopted for M&D's operations in the town, becoming a separate company in 1983, being eventually absorbed into the Stagecoach Group (with the remainder of M&D becoming part of Arriva). |
