Deze ceremoniële zetel werd voor hem besteld door de admiraliteit - het vloot-bestuur - van Amsterdam. Mogelijk werd de stoel ontworpen door de Haagse kunstenaar Nicolaas Bruynestein, een zwager van Xavery, maar het kan ook zijn dat hij hem alleen heeft verguld.
