Description
Deutsch: Staðarhraunsvegur nach Hítardalur (im Hintergrund) auf Snæfellsnes. Hítardalur nach der Landnámabók von Þórhaddur Steinsson erstmalig besiedelt. Am 30. Sebtember 1148 verbrannte Magnús Einarsson, Bischof von Skálholt dort mit 72 Menschen bei einem Großfeuer. 1166 oder 1168 wurde hier ein Benediktinerkloster gegründet, das aber schon 1201 wieder geschlossen wurde. Sitz vieler mittelalterlicher Gelehrter.
