Nederlands: Objectgegevens Titel: Staartster (komeet) boven Rotterdam Beschrijving: Olieverf op paneel, liggend formaat. Staartster (komeet) boven Rotterdam. Een groep mensen heeft zich verzameld; zij kijken van de Open Rijstuin naar het westen over het water van het Steiger naar de Grotemarkt met het standbeeld van Erasmus om de komeet te aanschouwen; sommigen gebruiken daarbij een Jacobsstaf. Rechts op de voorgrond wendt een vrouw met kind zich huilend af. Rechts de Korenbeurs en de toren van de Laurenskerk. Naar aanleiding van de verschijning van de komeet schreef Pierre Bayle zijn beroemde Pensées diverses, gepubliceerd in 1683. Herkomst: Aankoop met steun van de Vereniging Rembrandt.
