Description
Français : Saint Antoine l'Abbaye est classé parmi les plus beaux villages de France. L’église fut classée Monument Historique en 1840. L’élévation reflète parfaitement les tendances du gothique. Selon la légende, les reliques de saint Antoine sont ramenées vers 1070 de Constantinople en Dauphiné. En 1088, des Bénédictins sont dépêchés de Montmajour pour surveiller la construction de l’église qui doit abriter les précieuses reliques et assurer l’accueil des pèlerins. Il est fondé par ailleurs, une maison de l’Aumône, par des sœurs et des frères hospitaliers au service des pauvres et des malades, plus particulièrement de ceux atteints du Mal des Ardents.
