Summary

[edit]
Description St Ricarius Church, Aberford, West Yorkshire, England. Originally a medieval church, of which only the tower remains. The nave was mostly rebuilt in 1862 to a design by Anthony Salvin, but it includes an 1830 east wall. The tower has four bells, of which the tenor weighs 5-1-0 in the key of C. (Source = Yorks Association of Change Ringers). At least one bell was cast by Mears & Stainbank (Whitechapel Bell Foundry). There is a turret clock mechanism by Potts of Leeeds, 1876. Bells and clock mechanism are in working order. All photos in bell chamber were taken unseen, in darkness, using flash, from top of ladder; it is not possible to enter the bell chamber. There is no public access to the inside of the tower.
