| Description |
English: St Nicholas' Church The current building dates mainly from around 1460, replacing a previous building on the site. This is the west end, seen from across Church Row. The very small blocked window above the window of the nave (to the right of the tower) was discovered in 1957 and is thought to date from the mid 11th century, as the only external remnant of the earlier building. Above the window can just be made out the outline of a gable, which marks the top of the original nave before the roof level was raised in 1857. The steeple was extended to its present height after the original was destroyed in a fire in 1857.
