Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St Nicholas' Church, Worth - south front, near to Worth, West Sussex, Great Britain. This grade I listed church is one of the oldest churches in the country, having been dated from between 950 and 1050, although it is possibly earlier still. It was supposedly founded by Edward the Confessor. Most of the walls are Saxon in origin, and the interior arch at the east end of the nave is thought to be one of the largest Saxon arches in existence, at 22 feet high and 14 feet wide. The tower was added in 1871. The roof dates from 1988, the previous Victorian structure, dating from 1870, having been destroyed in a fire in 1986.
