Description
English: St Michael Coslany, Norwich, Norfolk, mural monument to Edmund Hooke (1707-1784), barrister-at-law, Deputy Lieutenant for Norwich. Text from: Farrer, Edmund, Church Heraldry of Norfolk, Vol 3 (1893) Lynn, Norwich, Thetford, Yarmouth, p.86[1]:
Tablet at the West End of the Nave. Quarterly, argent and sable a cross between four escallops counter-changed (Hooke); impaling: Per pale argent and sable, three lion's gambs in pale lying fesseways counter-changed (Wilson). Edmund Hooke, Esq., of this parish. Barrister at Law, D.L. for the City and County of Norwich, and Member of the Hon. Society of the Middle Temple, who died August 8, 1784, aged 77. He was Sheriff 1744, married Elizabeth, daughter of George Wilson, manufacturer, of this city, and by whom he had one son and three daughters. She died July 1, 1793, aged 79."
