Français : le chef d’œuvre de Jean-Esprit Isnard aidé de son neveu Joseph terminé en 1774,un des trop rares grands instruments authentiques de cette époque (avec le François-Henri Clicquot de la cathédrale de Poitiers).
Sous l’impulsion de Pierre Cochereau et de Pierre Rochas, médecin et organologue, l’année 1962 vit naître la première Académie de l’orgue classique français qui assura un rayonnement international à l'orgue, qui déboucha sur la restauration minutieuse de l'instrument par Yves Cabourdin de 1986 à 1991. Toutes les phases de la restauration de l'instrument ont été suivies par une « commission de suivi scientifique » composée notamment par le conservateur régional des monuments historiques de Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, l'organiste Michel Chapuis, les facteurs d'orgue Georges Lhôte et Pierre Chéron. |
