Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St Matthews Church, Normanton, Rutland. Built between 1826 and 1829 and designed by Thomas Cundy, and architect who at that time worked on the Grosvenor Estate. The church was saved from disappearing into Rutland water in the early 1970's and looks spectacular as it looms over the shore line. I would be interested to see if anyone has any pictures pre Rutland Water, as the only ones I can find are somewhat grainy newspaper pictures. The building now houses a museum.
