St Mary, Wortham - Ledger slab
Description Ledger stone of Edmund Betts of Wortham in Suffolk, who in 1715 married Abigail Vincent a daughter of Philip Vincent of Marlingford, "George Betts' cousin and old hunting companion, by his second wife Elizabeth Colby. The ancient coat-of-arms of Colby impaled with Vincent appears on some of the Betts silver" (Source: The Betts of Wortham in Suffolk, 1480-1905 by Katharine Frances Doughty[1]). Arms: Sable, on a bend argent three cinquefoils gules a bordure engrailed of the second (Betts) (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.79) impaling: Azure, three quatrefoils argent (Vincent) (Vincent Baronets, of Stoke d'Abernon & Baron D'Abernon & Viscount D'Abernon)
