English: St Mary, Strethall, Essex - Hatchment. "The hatchment hanging on the tower wall dates from the early nineteenth century and probably commemorates the father of the Reverend William Forbes Raymond" (https://www.achurchnearyou.com/church/6416/find-us/); "The funeral hatchment is that of Major General William Raymond" (https://stepneyrobarts.blogspot.com/2010/11/strethall-essex.html), 22nd (or the Cheshire) Regiment of Foot (https://collection.nam.ac.uk/detail.php?acc=1965-02-177-1). See: SERMON,

PREACHED IN THE CHAPEL OF LAMBETH PALACE, ON SUNDAY, OCTOBER II, MDCCCXXXI, AT THE CONSECRATION OF THE RIGHT REV. EDWARD, LORD BISHOP OF CHICHESTER. BY THE REV. WILLIAM FORBES RAYMOND, M.A. RECTOR OF STRETHALL, ESSEX; ASSISTANT PREACHER AT LINCOLN'S INN; CHAPLAIN TO THE LORD CHANCELLOR; AND EXAMINING CHAPLAIN TO THE LORD BISHOP OF CHICHESTER, published London, 1831.[1]

Arms of Raymond: Sable, a chevron between three eagles displayed argent on a chief of the last a bend engrailed between two martlets of the first (a difference of Raymond of Belchamp Hall in Essex); crest: A dragon's head erased or ducally gorged gules. (Burke, Sir Bernard, The General Armory, London, 1884, p.842); with inescutcheon of pretence of Forbes: Azure, three bear's heads couped argent muzzled gules. Possibly the heraldic heiress wife of Major General William Raymond, as his son adopted Forbes as a forename.
