Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt Mary's Church, Shelton, Norfolk - Tomb chest - geograph.org.uk - 1029378.jpg |
English: St Mary's Church, Shelton, Norfolk, north side of altar - chest tomb of Sir Ralph Shelton (d.15 June 1568), who married firstly Mary Woodhouse, a daughter of Sir William Woodhouse of Waxham, Knight, and secondly Anne Barrow, a daughter of Thomas Barrow, Esq., of Barningham in Suffolk (Blomefield, History of Norfolk, Vol.V, p.268, quoted by Farrer). "This Ralph is made out to be High Sheriff of Norfolk in 1570, whereas in 1568 he died. The dates of birth of his several children are still on the tomb, in almost every case they differ from the account in Blomefield" (Farrer, Edmund, Church Heraldry of Norfolk, Vol 1 (1885), , p.197 [1]).
