Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St Margaret's Church, Hales (3). The absence of aisles, which were usually added during the 15th century or later, illustrates how narrow these churches were originally. Viewed from the west, nave and chancel are almost obscured by the tower that was erected after completion of the former.

One of ~ 124 round tower churches in Norfolk and the most complete Norman church in all East Anglia. Like the neighbouring St Gregory's church in Heckingham > 588035, 588034, 588032 and 223716 it is in the care of the Churches Conservation Trust.
