Summary

[edit]
Description
English: St John the Baptist Church and Rectory Smallhythe was the port for Tenterden and as such invited to be an associate member, or limb, of the Cinque Ports. The flourishing shipbuilding industry here is evident by the remaining buildings in the village. Despite a major fire damaging nearly all the buildings in 1516 there was enough money to rebuild the major structures of the port as well as being able to afford to import the bricks from the Low Countries to rebuild the church.
