| Description |
English: St John's Church, Farley Chamberlayne There was a timber church on the site in early Saxon times. The present church dates from Norman times and the Norman south door still remains. The walls are flint and rubble. The manorial lands of Farley were given to Herbert Fitz-Remi, Chamberlain to William the Conqueror, from whence the village of Farley Chamberlayne derived its name. |
