English: Arms of Cottrell-Dormer family of Rousham Hall, Oxfordshire. Arms of Dormer: Azure, ten billets 4,3,2 & 1 or issuant from a chief of the last a demi-lion rampant sable; arms of Cottrell: Argent, a bend nebulée sable gutée d'eau between three escallops of the second. (
Burke's Genealogical and Heraldic History of the Landed Gentry, 15th Edition, ed. Pirie-Gordon, H., London, 1937, p.627). Stained glass window, Church of Saint Leonard and Saint James, Rousham. In 1649 the estate was inherited by Robert Dormer's son, also Robert. He left the house much as his father had created it, only repairing the damage of the Civil War. However, he did more to restore the family fortunes by marrying twice, each time to an heiress. His second wife was the daughter of Sir Charles Cottrell, a high-ranking courtier of Charles II. Arms:
