Description

  • Left: Azure, a chevron ermine between three pelicans, with wings endorsed or, vulning themselves proper ; on a canton of the third an escutcheon gules, charged with a lion passant guardant of the third. Meadows. Crest : Out of a ducal coronet or, a pelican as in the arms. Meadows. For *' Philip Meadows, Esq', who was Mayor, 1734, and died Feby 11, 1752, aged 72; Margaret, his wife, daughter of John Hall, Esq", who died Feb. 22, 1765, aged 73 ; Philip Meadows, their son, Attomey-at-Law, of Diss, co. Norfolk, who died May 29, 1783, aged 63. On another memorial " Richard Taylor, who died August 7, 1762, aged 42 ; and Margaret, his wife, daughter of PhiUp Meadows, who died Feb. 19, 1781, aged 62."
  • Right: Argent, three talbots' heads erased azure; on a chief indented gules, a chaplet or {Hall — Blomfeld, Norf. iv. 470, gives " the chaplet vert.") Crest : A demi-griffin argent, winged gules, supporting with the dexter claw a chaplet, as in the arms. Hall. For " Thomas Hall, of London, Merchant, son of John Hall of this city. Esq", who died Dec^ 18, 1715, in his 35^^ year; Captain William Hall, another son, who died July 16*^, 1721, aged 35 ; Margaret, wife of John Hall, Esq™, who died May 12, 1722, aged 70 ; and John Hall, Esq", Mayor, 1701 and 1719, who died April 14, 1729, aged 76; Jeremiah Hall, Merchant, last surviving son of John Hall, Esq", died August 29, 1738, aged 44."
