Description
English: St George's Church - churchyard C18 headstone just northwest of St George's church. St George's church has a round tower and dates mainly from the 14th century but there was an extensive restoration during the 19th century and there are not many older survivals > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855329 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855371 - https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855388. The font > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855390 is C19, the east window is by Powell & Sons (d. 1922). A C17 monument - to Rose Claxton, who died in 1601 - is located beside the high altar but only the tomb chest and effigy remain > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855385. The C17 monument to Leonard Mapes of Beeston (next Norwich), depicting the deceased with his wife and children, was executed in alabaster > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855380. A curious cubicle is located in the southeastern corner corner of the sanctuary; it has two entries and might have served as a sacristy > https://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/855374. The church is kept locked but a key is available. For more information see: http://www.norfolkchurches.co.uk/rollesby/rollesby.htm
