English: St Andrew's church - east window. A memorial to members of the Damant family. St Andrew's church is located by the River Bure > 867427. The church > 867454 was extensively restored by architect H.J. Green during the 19th century, the chancel > 867467 - 867483 being markedly out of alignment with the nave; two RAF Squadron standards (No 6 Squadron, the longest serving squadron in the Royal Airforce) are mounted on the chancel south wall. An oak war memorial for the 1914-1918 war is on the nave north wall > 867476. The only old piece of stained glass, depicting the arms of the Inghams (Lords of the Manor in the 13th and 14 centuries) can be seen set into the southeast chancel window > 867471. The east window (seen here), a memorial to members of the Damant family, dates from the 19th century. There are a few interesting memorial tablets, one to Wm Damant (d. 1808) and his wife Elizabeth Castell (d. 1789), the last of the Damants to live in Lammas > 867480. The octagonal font > 867487 the panels of which are carved with Tudor roses alternating with blank panels, is C15. The organ > 867488 was built in 1845 by Benjamin Collins who was a bootmaker as well as an organ-builder, was initially installed in Scottow church and later moved from there to Scottow Hall, until its presentation to Lammas in 1944. The colourful crenelated organ case was painted by a parishioner. The church is kept locked but a key is available on request.
