Leaving the wheel to take care of itself, forthe boat was no longer under control, he sprangforward to help George get down the useless sailand stow the jib, and as the sloop fell away intothe trough of the sea a solid green wave slappedthe side and slopped inboard, filling the cockpitand nearly washing captain and mate off theirfeet.
