| Description | The following morning was my last day in Sandakan. I'd spent five days here, thanks to the wildlife here, which included the three day excursion to Uncle Tan (separate album coming up) and Labuk Bay Proboscis monkey sanctuary. (earlier pictures earlier in this set). On the way to the airport, I simply had to check out the St. Michael's & All Angels Church, pictured here. The historical city of Sandakan is home to many buildings and monuments, each witness to the changes of time and events over the years. One of the oldest buildings is this St. Michael’s and All Angels Church. The Church avoided major damage during World War II in the 1940s and remains one of the very few stone buildings in the whole of Sabah. (Sandakan, Sabah, East Malaysia, Nov.2013) |
