English: St. Mary's Watergate The remains of the Watergate, which was built as a stone gatehouse in the 14thC to allow access to travellers who were arriving by boat. It is situated alongside the Guesthouse, where the more influential visitors would be housed.
The brickwork was added in the late 15thC, not long before the dissolution of the abbey. |
