Summary
[edit]DescriptionSt. Margrethenberg - Älpli (49969552181).jpg | Formerly the base of the air defense of Fort Furggels, today a restaurant. Hidden in the surrounding hills there are still various shelters and fighting positions. Some of them are used by the farmers as storage place or are closed for security reasons. Below the restaurant and the road in the picture there are four large ammunition magazines of the 15 cm bunker guns. But this place was also a practice firing range, which contaminated the ground. The concreted positions of the anti-aircraft guns all around were broken off. During excavation work it was also found that part of the hills consist of excavated material from the construction of the fortress. Located under the trees on the left there is the air intake point 2 for the diesel generators (cooling/fresh air) of the fort. In the background the Zanuztobel can be seen, a former target area for live firing exercises of the tank turrets 10.5 cm. The Älpli belongs to the current owner of the fort and is operated by a tenant. Switzerland, June 1, 2020. |
