English: St. Leonard's Hospice Built at the expense of John Romanus (died 1255AD) this building comprising a vaulted crypt with chapel above formed part of St. Leonard hospital. It was once one of the largest hospitals in northern England, occupying a site of 4 acres. It was dissolved in 1540. |
