Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Saint John Bell of the Greek Catholic Cathedral of Hajdúdorog, Hungary. The bell got its name of St. John the Baptist whose figure appears on the bell as well. The St. John bell is the oldest bell of the three bells of the cathedral. This bell was the only bell of the church for a long time. The current bell itself was founded in 1927 to replace the original St. John bell that was taken away during the first world war.
On the bell the lines say: "The bell was ordered by the members of the Greek Cath. Church of Hajdúdorog in 1927 to the veneration of Saint John the Baptist and to replace the John-bell that was taken away during the 1914-18 great war for military purposes. It was founded by Frigyes Seltenhofer's sons in Sopron."
Magyar: A hajdúdorogi görög katolikus székesegyház Szent János-harangja. A harang Keresztelő Szt. Jánosról kapta nevét, akinek az alakja felfedezhető a harangon. A Szent János-harang a templom három harangja közül a legidősebb. Sokáig ez a harang volt a templom egyetlen harangja. A jelenlegi harangot 1927-ben öntötték az I. világháborúban elvitt János-harang helyére.

A harang oldalán a következő felirat látható: "Keresztelő Sz. János tiszteletére s az 1914-18-as világháborúban hadi célokra elszállított János harang pótlására önttették a hajdudorogi gör. kath. egyház tagjai az 1927. évben

Öntötték: Seltenhofer Frigyes fiai harangöntő-gyárában Sopronban."
