Description
English: St-Martin-sur-Ouanne, Yonne, France. Villa de la Grange Rouge (Red Barn villa), which used to be owned by the Templar knights. Several "villas de la Grange Rouge" exist in the surrounding villages (one is in Prunoy, another in Charny, possibly elsexhere too). The name comes from their red cross being stamped on the barn doors. They ran iron ore mines and workshops (the local iron was not of the best quality but still good enough to be worth the work), a common and flourishing industry in this area from the highest Antiquity to the Middle Ages.

Le nom de la maison vient de leur croix rouge marquée sur la porte de la grange. Les Templiers possédaient plusieurs propriétés dans les alentours, témoin plusieurs maisons encore appelées "Grange Rouge" (une à Prunoy, une proche de Charny, peut-être ailleurs aussi).
