The Leagues The Spring season of the First League was a good one.This is due to the fact that the teams were evenly matched.From the very outset it was a good fight and neither sidewas able to secure a lead of more than two games. First itwas the Reds that forged to the front, and then the Blueswould catch up with their opponents and pass them. THE SPRING HILL REVIEW 233 sides tied, and it was announced that there were but elevengames more to be played, the Reds proceeded to take sixstraights. Try as they might, the Blues could not rally, butto their credit and as an example to future teams be it said,that they never once.showed the white feather. They didnot win, but they did the next best thing—they stuck to thegame till the last man was out in the last inning of the lastgame. Now who will say that this is not harder to do orless deserving of credit than winning out ? To Captain Mc-Master of the Blues is due more than an ordinary share ofthe credit that accrues to his side for the great fight theymade because he set the example of pluck and the never-say-die spirit that was caught up by his men. That the Reds won is attributable to nothing else thanto hard practice and industry. They never played one care-less game in the whole season. They were generally pickedto be the weaker team at the beginning of the season,—andm
