74 THE STORRS & HARRISON CO.'S CATALOGUE. J. D. Cabos — One of the best dark foliaged varieties, has dark greenish maroon foliage, with a bronze metallic luster; flowers bright orange or apricot. 4^2 feet. L. E. Bally—Flowers very large with broad heavy petals; color light canary yellow, spotted with orange. 3 to 4 feet. Madam Crozy—Still one of the best gilt-edged varieties and a favorite everywhere. Flowers are the very brightest crimson scarlet, bordered with golden yellow, produced on long, branching stems, which are closely set with bloom. 3lA feet. Progression—Color, deep golden yellow, heavily spotted and splashed crimson. Vigorous grower. About 5 feet. Paul Marquant—One of the most pleasing and beautiful on ac- count of its large size and dis- tinct and novel color. Color a beautiful shade of bright salmon with carmine tint. About 4 feet. President Carnot—Foliage deep chocolate maroon, one of the best of the dark leaved varie- ties. Flowers bright scarlet. 4y2 feet. Sophie Buchner—Flowers very large, in close com- pact trusses on stiff, erect stems. Color deep crim- son with vermilion shadings. Plant a sturdy com- pact grower, with broad, deep, bronzy green foli- age. 5 feet. Tarrytown—An ideal bedding Canna; color, bright cherry red. It is dwarf yet very vigorous in growth, with fine healthy foliage. The flowers come in immense even trusses and last in good condition for weeks. About S)/2 feet. 15c. Unless noted ioc each; Si.oo per doz.; $6.oo per ioo. CARNATIONS. SEVEN PRIZE WINNING VARIETIES. Queen Louise—Probably the most free blooming Carnation in existence. Flowers of good size, reaching 2^4 to 3 inches in diameter under good cultivation. Flowers purest white, produced evenly all through the blooming season. This should prove a fine variety for the amateur grower, either for the garden or pot plant in the house; has shown a continuous display of bloom wherever tried so far. 15c. Lorna—Flower pure white very large and fragrant. A vast improvement over its parent, the old favor- ite White Cloud, being more compact and a stronger grower, with longer, stouter stems; a more pure white and more continuous bloomer. An ideal white Carnation. 15c. California Gold—An ideal Carnation for the amateur grower, one of the most prolific bloomers of all the yellows; flowers of good size and beautiful form; color, golden yellow, slightly penciled red; most of the yellow Carnations are shy bloomers, but in California Gold we have one that flowers as freely as any of the red cr pink varieties. Plant a strong healthy grower. 15c.

MRS. E. A. NELSON Mrs. E. A. Nelson—A pure glistening pink similar to Francis Joost; always a popular shade. It is an early and continuous bloomer, under good culti- vation, having a stem 2 to 2J/2 feet high and strong enough to sustain its largest flowers. Flowers often reach a size of 3l/2 to 4 inches in diameter when grown properly. It is indeed one of the most promising Carnations in cultivation. 20c. Governor Roosevelt—It is admitted by all Carnation specialists that the flower of Governor Roosevelt is as near perfect in form as any Carnation yet produced; made up of a large number of petals into a perfectly round, full flower. It is a vigorous, healthy grower, the foliage being of that rich, glaucous green color that characterizes our most productive Carnations. Its color is deep, rich, brilliant scarlet, heavily shaded maroon. Under good cultivation the average size of bloom is 3 to SJ/2 inches in diameter, with a stem reaching 2l/2 to 3 feet. 20c. Prosperity—Distinct in color from any other variety, the ground color being pure white, overlaid with pink mottles, deepening toward the center, the coloring reminding one of that often found in Azaleas and Rhododendrons. Flowers of enor- mous size, averaging Sl/2 to 4 inches in diameter when grown by expert Carnationists. The stems and. general habit of growth are all that can be desired, being very strong and vigorous. 15c. Mrs. Francis Joost—A variety that we can recom- mend as being one of the most free flowering sorts, rivaling if not excelling the old favorite, Wm. Scott, in that respect. It is a beautiful shade of soft pink; a good sized flower, strong, vigorous grower, and styled "a money-maker" by florists, because good salable flowers may always be cut from it. 15c. One each of above 7 varieties for 80c.
