77 Ed. Mieg. This DUKE OF MARLBOROUGH. Duke of Marlborough. The darkest Carina known, a beautiful crimson maroon. This is a sturdy, erect grower, fine metallic green foliage. No matter how many varieties you may have, you need this one to make your collection complete, for it is entirely distinct from all others. 15c. Yellow Oozy, Flowers clear canary yellow, borne in close compact spikes. On account of its low growth it may be used with good advantage as a border to Canna beds of taller growing varieties. 15c. Tarrytown. An ideal bedding Canna; color, bright cherry red. It is dwarf yet very vigorous in growth, with fine healthy foliage. The flowers come in immense even trusses and last in good condition for weeks. 15c. Robert Christie. Bright orange scarlet. A partic- ularly strong growing variety, throwing up tre- mendous heads of bloom. Placed by the side of other varieties of like description, it displays its superiority, both in freedom of bloom and size of flowers. 15c. GENERAL COLLECTION. Admiral Avellan. One of the best dark-foliaged sorts. Flowers orange scarlet overlaid with salmon. Acme. A fine yellow with broad overlapping petals. Sometimes faintly streaked and dotted scarlet. Alsace. The nearest approach to a white Canna. Flowers at first opening are light sulphur yellow, changing to creamy white. An excellent free flowering variety. 15c. Alphonse Bouvier. One of the freest blooming Cannas. On good soil grows 5 to 6 feet high and throws out numerous flower stalks crowned with immense heads of rich crimson bloom. Beauty Poitevine. Bright rich crimson, growing 3 to 3y2 feet high, stands drought and heat better than any other variety. A fine bedding Canna, having bright green foli- age and good sized trus- ses of flowers on erect flower spikes. 15c. Chicago. Clear vermilion scarlet: flowers large and nearly flat, forming large heads of bloom. Chas. Henderson. The stan- dard of excellence of all crimson Cannas. Bright crimson with pencilings of golden yellow at cen- ter. We recommend this as one of the best dark red Cannas. Col, Dodds. A free, vigor- ous grower; foliage deep green; color, rich velvety red. is one of the brightest colored sorts in all of our collection; a strong, robust grower, attaining a height of 3l/2 to 4 feet. Bears large trusses of vermilion scarlet flowers. E. G. Hill. Clear scarlet, marbled with carmine. The flowers are of excellent shape, with broad reflexed petals. A very vigorous grower; one of the best of its class. Flamingo. Deep, rich glowing crimson, very at- tractive. The plant is of sturdy and vigorous habit, with bright green foliage; rarely exceeds four feet in height. Splendid for bedding or pot culture. 15c. Francois Crozy. This variety is identical with Mad. Crozy in habit and general style of growth, flow- ers bright orange, bordered with a narrow edge of gold; one of the most desirable shades. Florence Vaughan. A splendid variety, yellow with bright red spots; one of the best of its class. The flowers are of good size, with thick, overlapping petals, nicely rounded at the ends. A strong, vigorous grower. Geoffrey St. Hillaire. Rich bronzy purple foliage, and large well-shaped flowers of rich glowing scarlet overlaid with orange, 4 to 5 feet high. L. t. Bally. Flowers very large, with broad heavy petals; color light canary yellow, spotted with orange. J. D. Cabos. One of the best dark foliaged varieties, has dark greenish maroon foliage, with a bronze metallic luster; flowers bright orange or apricot. A very distinct variety; fine early and late, profuse bloomer. Madam Crozy, Still one of the best gilt-edged varie- ties and a favorite everywhere. Flowers are the very brightest crimson scarlet, bordered with golden yellow, produced on long branching stems, which are closely set with bloom. Papa Canna. A grand addition to our list of red flowering Cannas. Very free flowering, producing a mass of bloom in immense sized spikes. Color pure red; a sturdy dwarf grower, 3 to Sy2 feet.
