Text Appearing Before Image:
PL A NTS— GENERA L COLLEC TION. 71 Mrs. James Dean. The ideal light pink Carnation: A continual bloomer with large perfect flowers of a beautiful silvery pink shade. Mayor Pingree. An excellent lemon yellow, lightly marked with pink and occasionally splashed white. Theie is no yellow variety better adapted to gen- eral culture, a strong healthy growing variety, as well as a very free bloomer.
Text Appearing After Image:
NEW YORK. New York. One of the most attractive and most de- sirable in all of our list. It is a delightful cerise pink shade, already very popular with admirers of the Carnation. An excellent deep pink. Psyche. A splendid free flowering fancy Carnation, pure white, flaked scarlet. It is an easily grown variety, and its strong vigorous growth and free- dom of bloom commend it to every plant admirer. Painted Lady. A large, very full flower, with long stiff stems; color, brilliant cherry pink, often laced lighter pink at edges. A strong, healthy grower, with clean, healthy foliage. Peachblow. This variety is distinct from other pink varieties both in shading of flower and in growth. It is a beautiful satiny pink, deep and clear; flow- ers very large. The petals are thick and heavy. Very fragrant. Jubilee. Rich intense scarlet. An excellent large flowered variety and one of the best reds. Blooms on straight stems 18 inches long. VICTOR. Victor. Perhaps the best that could be sa~i3 of this variety is that it is a sport from that old favor- ite. "Daybreak." and that it is identical with it in every respect but color. It is a bright salmon pink, held up by stiff, long stems well above the foliage. Mrs. Geo. M. Bradt. A constant blooming long- stemmed and extra large flowered variety, white striped, bright scarlet. This is the most showy of all the fancy flowered Carnations. Remarkable for its extra large size, and delightful fragrance. 15c. Dean Hole. One of the best yellows, and a very pop- ular variety. Color, bright clear yellow, with light carmine stripes. Lizzie McGowan. Still a favorite variety; easily handled and very productive. A pure white, with good size flowers of delightful fragrance. Should be^ included in every collection of Carnations. Portia. A favorite everywhere, for it blooms freeh- and is a desirable shade of bright scarlet. The flowers are of good size and substance, keeping for a long time after being cut. One of our most valuable varieties. Puritan. Another fine white; flowers are large and very fragrant, held well above the plant on long stout stems. A free and continuous bloomer. Rose Queen. One of the best pink varieties for all uses. The plant is bushy and compact in form, while the flowers are held up by stiff, erect stems. Color, a soft pure rose. Tidal Wave. A splendid grower and will do well everywhere. It is a dwarf, robust grower and very free bloomer. Color, bright carmine pink. Triumph. The ideal pink Carnation. Color, a pure bright pink. The flowers are extra large, on stout, straight stems 2 to 3 feet in height, delightfully fragrant and remain in perfect condition for a long time after being cut.
