This new race is distinguished by its dark foliage and a richness of color not to be found in any of the different classes of Tropaeolum already known. They flower earlier and more abundantly than Tropaeolum Lobbianum. They make a strong growth, climbing from five to six feet high, and are covered from spring to fall with large, substantial flowers of the most brilliant shades. They are re- markable for their wide range of colors, embracing rose, pink, salmon, purple, velvety dark maroon, light yellow, and deep orange in self colors, as well as striped and blotched in the most fanciful manner.
