Description

Spretthaler er viktige organismer for nedbrytning av organisk materiale i jord. De lever ofte av sopp og bakterier, men noen arter kan også spise plantedeler, pollen, sporer og noen få er rovdyr. De kalles spretthaler fordi «halen» kan bøyes inn under kroppen og fungere som en katapult om dyret må komme seg vekk i en fart.
