Description
English: Hornfels are fine-grained contact metamorphic rocks. They typically form as the result of contact metamorphism of shales or basalts. Some hornfels have spheroidal to irregularly-shaped patches of more coarsely-crystalline material - such rocks are called spotted hornfels.
