Description

In 2012, in Lakeview and Medford, Oregon, and Spokane, Washington, the BLM formed three veteran crews with the capability to fight wildfires. A total of 33 veterans were hired. This program trained the veterans to ensure they had safe yet meaningful work experiences - experiences that grow into future employment opportunities with fire management and natural resources across the nation.

BLM honors the men and women of the military who have served and sacrificed for our country and we believe that they possess special leadership skills that greatly benefit the agency across all of its programs. More about veteran's employment with the BLM is online at:
