English: Spitfire on Reginald Mitchell Way. R.J. Mitchell, the designer of the famous Spitfire WWII fighter plane, was born about 2 miles from here in Butt Lane. The A527 from Sandyford to the A500 is named "Reginald Mitchell Way" to commemorate one of the few famous men from Stoke-on-Trent who was not involved with the pottery industry. |
