English: Spike Island Widnes, Winter Scene As winter draws in Spike Island becomes a haven for wild birds & ducks coming South for the winter months. Boats can be seen abandoned for the winter with sheets over them to protect them until spring when the canal & the river Mersey comes alive again with boat people, fishermen and folks strolling through the peaceful countryside close to the busy town of Widnes. |
