Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Spice Avenue Balti, Wolverhampton When all the "Indian" restaurants were rushing to change their names to the word of the day, balti, in the 1980s and early 90s, Spice Avenue was the first in Wolverhampton to operate a "bring your own booze" policy, and prepare the food in an open kitchen in full view of the diners. Very tasty too, though the place looks run down now because of the continuing delays and uncertain progress in the city redevelopment. The meals can still be recommended. This set of retail business units in Cleveland Street always seemed somewhat shabby, but was typical of its time. The shop next to the restaurant is also long established, and is a Caribbean hair dresser's called "The Ebony Rooms".
