Title
spectacle buckle
Description
English: Cast copper alloy spectacle or double-loop oval buckle frame that is plano-convex in section with a bevelled inner edge and a recessed pin bar with moulded knops at either end of the bar. The pin is now missing. There appears to be traces of black lacquer on parts of the upper face of the frame where some of the original surface remains. The buckle frame is 35.6 mm long, 25 mm wide and 2.7 mm thick, and the pin bar is 24 mm long including the knops, 3 mm wide and 2 mm thick.

Whitehead (1996) illustrates a similar example on page 54, No.308, which is dated from c.1500-1650.
