Description
English: In this extract of Special Order No. 46 issued by Major General Shanks, Dr. Esther E. Leonard was directed to report to U.S.A. Embarkation Hospital No. 4 in New York City. Dr. Leonard served as a contract surgeon during World War I at the U.S. Army General Hospital No. 1 in New York City and at an evacuation hospital in Vichy, France.

HEADQUARTERS PORT OF EMBARKATION HOBOKEN, NEW JERSEY SPECIAL ORDERS NO. 46 February 15, 1919. JS (EXTRACT) 59. Contract Surgeon Esther E. Leonard, Medical Department, having reported at these headquarters February 13, 1919, in compliance with paragraph 26, Embarkation Orders No. 13, A. E. F., Headquarters Services of Supply, January 15, 1919, will, under War Department instructions of February 3, 1919, report to the Commanding Officer, U. S. A.
