Стиль иконы противоречив. Моделировка одеяний, характерная для позднего XVI в., сочетается с деталями, которые выглядят как цитаты из искусства XV в. Это, например, крупная, решительно моделированная десница Христа. Иконописец предпочитает сильные контрасты между начальной раскладкой красок и моделирующими слоями, как это было принято в искусстве русских северо-западных земель в целом. Но даже некоторый провинциализм, сказывающийся в упрощенности композиционного решения, не может скрыть тяготения мастера к тверской художественной традиции. Он выявляет прежде всего не цветовой контраст, как было принято в Новгороде, а контраст между светлым и темным, отчего его гамма сильно ахроматизируется. Иконописец мог работать в каком-либо из городов или монастырей Верхнего Поволжья, прежде входивших в тверское княжество. Икона принадлежит к числу памятников, характеризующих неизученные и малоизученные явления русского искусства второй половины XVI в. Представляет художественную, историко-культурную, научную и музейную ценность.
