English: Lt. Col. Mark Olsen, commander, 1st Battalion, 30th Infantry Regiment “Battle Boars,” formerly of the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, now assigned to the 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, passes his battalion's colors to Col. Scott Jackson, commander, 2nd ABCT, who will then pass the Battle Boars’ standard to Maj. Gen. John Murray, commanding general, 3rd ID, who will then pass them to Col. Thomas Gukeisen, commander, 4th IBCT, who will then return them to Olsen during the 2nd ABCT's reorganization ceremony held here, Oct. 24. This action formally represents the reassignment of the “Battle Boars” from the 2nd ABCT to the 4th IBCT. Along with the Battle Boars, the 1st Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment “Desert Rogues,” were re-assigned to the 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team. The ceremony marks one of the final steps taken to inactivate the 2nd ABCT, slated to take place in January. It is also the last time that the brigade, in this configuration, will stand together as a complete unit. (U.S. Army Photo by Staff Sgt. Richard Wrigley 2nd ABCT, 3rd ID, Public Affairs NCO) |
