Русский: Фрагмент платы радиоприёмника Россия-302. Серый кирпичик в центре - селеновый стабистор (диод) 7ГЕ2А-К. Буквы ГЕ в названии - для камуфляжа; никакого германия там нет. Только селен. Стабистор - диод с особо крутой прямой вольт-амперной характеристикой, предназначенный для стабилизации напряжения на прямой ветви (в отличие от обратно включённого стабилитрона). Напряжение стабилизации 1.3-1.6 В. Применялись для задания режима работы выходных транзисторов в примитивных двухтактных трансформаторных УНЧ, и были вскоре забыты. Ближайший современный аналог - обычный светодиод.
English: Fragment of the Soviet Rossiya-302 radio PCB. The grey block in the center is the 7ГЕ2А-К selenium diode. These diodes were used in place of zener diodes (or strings of Ge or Si diodes) to regulate voltages around 1.3-1.6 V per one selenium cell. The selenium diode was deemed superior to a zener because of much lower minimum operating currents - until the advent of reliable silicon voltage references. Here, it is used to bias output transistors in a transformer-coupled push-pull output stage. If necessary, they may be replaced with a suitable LED or two silicon diodes in series.
